Meeting Summary
Ever since Ali Baba first uttered the immortal words “Open, Sesame” we have dreamed of the day where we too could control our world with nothing more than the sound of our voice. To be able to say “Open, E-mail”, or “Delete, SPAM” and have a computer do our bidding is a fantasy I think we could all enjoy.
Well, what used to be considered a fantasy is quickly becoming a reality today. Biometrics is a quickly growing industry that has many different applications. This month, NPUG takes a look at voice recognition on your Palm OS device. To help make sense of this emerging technology, our guest speaker Kerry Woo, Vice President of Enterprise Relationships for VoiceIT Technologies, Inc., will be explaining how voice biometrics work and how we can use this technology right now.
Agenda
1. Welcome & Announcements
After welcoming everyone to the meeting, we give a quick update on what’s new with the user group. This include membership, web site updates, where our geocache bug tracker is, etc.
2. What’s Happening In Palm OS
Each month we cover everything that’s happened over the past month with Palm OS. We discuss the handhelds, new cool software and what to look for in the future.
3. What’s On Your Palm?
Our very own Fred Heumann asks the question, “What’s On Your Palm?” and shares what are some of the latest, best and sometimes unusual programs for your Palm.

4. Biometrics Basics
We will delve into the basics of how biometrics work discussing the steps that a user typically goes through in order to use a biometric system. This will give you an idea of how truly amazing it is that these systems work to recognize users, make phone calls, and insure an added layer of security for your and your mobile device.
5. Guest Speaker: Kerry Woo, Vice President, Enterprise Relationships
Biometrics is a growing industry and VoiceIt Technologies is at the forefront of voice recognition software. We are so very fortunate to have our very own Kerry Woo discuss voice recognition software and VoiceIt Technologies product offerings. VoiceIt has many different packages but Kery will focus on a demonstration of VoiceNavIt.
