Meeting Summary

The Zen of Palm is simplicity, over the years the PalmOS has remained simplistic so that it could do what it does best. Unfortunately, sometimes we as users require more functionality. That’s where utilities and hacks can greatly enhance the PalmOS as additional tools. Where does that leave file managers? Well, this is a tool that no user should be without. It makes simple work out of managing your data either on your Palm or your external media.

Even though the PalmOS is simple it still needs help on occassion. These tools can be an essential part of every users “toolbox”

Agenda

1. Welcome

2. Announcements

3. Handheld Reports & General Discussion

4. Mobile Medic program demonstration
Mike Cook, the IT Manager for Sumner County E911 and Emergency Medical Services has developed a palm application that lets paramedics collect field data and sync it with a centralized server.

5. File Managers, Utilities, and Hacks
We will demonstrate a plethara of file managers and what the strengths and weaknesses of each of them are. We will also show you several utilities that any user should have in their “toolbox”. Finally, we will cover hacks. Thought hacks were gone since PalmOS5? Guess again! Hacks are alive and well (for the most part in OS 5) and we’ll show you how to use them again.

Some of what we’ll be covering includes:
-What are File Managers, Utilities, and Hacks used for.
-Review of File Managers
-Utilities-a Palm users toolbox
-Visiting Hacks (and you thought they were gone with OS5!)
-Q&A
