Meeting Summary

With the Summer in full swing, our thoughts turn to vacations and getaways before old man winter returns. Did you know that your Palm OS device can be a handy little tool to assist you in your search for rest and relaxation? Well, it certainly can and this month we’ll show you a number of ways that you can use your PDA to maximize your summer fun.

We will be covering the basics of GPS, mapping and other travel software that will get you where you’re going as well as applications that can assist you once you get to your destination.

Don’t forget that we’ll be meeting at the CompUSA in Cool Springs for this month only, so be sure to make a note of the location change.

See you Saturday!

Agenda

1. Welcome

3. Handheld Reports & General Discussion

4. GPS Basics
With the Garmin iQue 3200 and Bluetooth GPS units like the GPS Navigator by palmOne, finding your way via Global Positioning (GPS) is getting less expensive and easier to use than ever. We’ll give a brief overview explaining what GPS is, how it works and how you can use it with your Palm OS device. Jon Welty will give us an overview of the DeLorme GPS for the Zire 71

As an added bonus, fellow NPUG member Vickie Riggan will share with us some of her interesting adventures as a Geo Tracker in the new and exciting sport of Geo Caching!

Once you’ve made it to your destination it’s now time to figure out what you can do there. Where’s the nearest mid priced resturant? Is this tourist attraction really all it’s cracked up to be?
