Meeting Summary
For NPUG Leadership Council Members ONLY. This meeting is not open to the general membership.
The NPUG Leadership Council has been around for 2 years now, but this year is going to be a little different - we’re actually going to be organized! The purpose for this meeting is for us to brainstorm and discuss where NPUG is going, or could go this year. We’ll have plenty of time for brainstorming and open discussion on how to make NPUG better and then nail down 3 major goals and objectives for the year.

Review the current mission statement and revise if needed.
4. Define Current Roles
Before we launch into a full brainstorming session, we’ll first define what roles currently exist and clearly define each one. A lot of work has already been done on this, but it’s important to make sure we’re all on the same page before we move forward.
5. Review Current Meeting Format
6. Brainstorm Ideas For 2004
This is where we just sit back and dream about where NPUG could go and what we can do as a group. Sky’s the limit and no idea is a bad idea. We’ll throw up everything on the wall and see what sticks.
7. Define Major Goals For 2004
Out of all the brainstorming, we’ll choose 3 major goals for the year. I’m sure that we’ll have a ton of good ideas from the brainstorming session, so it will be tough to pick the top 3 goals for the year.
8. Finalize Next Steps
Now that we have our 3 major goals, we’ll need to work through all the various tasks that are required for each goal. Once that’s identified, we can then look at what the very next step should be and who is responsible for it. We don’t leave until this step is done.

How To Make Our Meetings Better
=================================
Since monthly meetings constitute the core of what NPUG is “about”, the first order of business was to discuss how the monthly meetings could be improved. The following ideas were suggested:
- Use Signs for our meetings
- Monthly Meetings
- Sign out front on the building
- Sign on the door itself
- Sign on the road pointing where to turn, similar to how realtor signs are done
- Mini-Meetings
- Sign that would affix to a window or door
- Take a group photo in front of sign for the next meeting for posting on the site and in the minutes
- Post Meeting Notes
- The day the meeting is over, the next meeting should be posted. Even if it’s blank.
- Meeting Reminders need to go out 1 week ahead of time.
- It would be nice if a VCard could be downloaded from the web site
- Meeting Notes with next meeting date at the top of the page sent out via e-mail after the meeting.
- NPUG should have a “Presentation Palm” that is used only for presentations at the meetings.

Promotion Ideas

- New Visitor Packet/Brochure
- start a in house card to work out the bugs
- Use in the meetings
- Get listed in the calendars in all the papers and tv
- In order to do this right, a new NPUG position/role (aka Public Relations) would have to be created.
- [Task] Richard Brooks agreed to look into what free publicity opportunities currently exist in Nashville.

Big Ideas
=============================
Several ideas were discussed regarding programs that NPUG could launch outside of the regular monthly meetings and mini meetings. The purpose was to “Blue Sky” any and all projects, or ideas that NPUG could implement. These included:
- In store clinics
- Teaching Seminar
- Realtor Seminar
In order for these programs to be a success, it was decided that we would need to do the following:
- Get Involved In The Community
- Select a target audience
- Build a presentation
- Do one informal seminar outside of our regular meetings and location.
- Evaluate and make changes as needed.

Suggested Web Site Changes
=============================
1. Update the “About Us” page to include pictures and bios of all the Leadership Council members.
2. Add a “Sponsorship Page”
- This would be a page highlighting those companies that have provided door prizes and other possible sponsorship with badges and/or links back to their respective web sites.
- There would also be a small section that could be added to our Home Page that would rotate badges highlighting our sponsors.
- To make this work properly, we would need to come up clear “Sponsorship Categories” such as Gold, Silver, Bronze to recognize those companies that support NPUG more than others.
